Monte Amiata with his district offers sports enthusiasts a unique breadth of marked trails and paths that can satisfy both lovers of Nordic walking or simply walking and cycling routes for street or mountain.
The network of paths has the center of the Ring Mountain, the magnificent journey of twenty-eight miles long that runs around the volcano. The full path requires a dozen hours, many of the countries that encircle the mountain ( Abbadia San Salvatore , Vivo d'Orcia Arcidosso Piancastagnaio, Santa Fiora) are attached to the ring by a 'slip' reported.
Very interesting flora and cultural trails of chestnut chestnut rode in some of the most evocative of the volcano reaching houses and squeegees are magical.
All paths can be combined in various ways using other routes marked trails that connect the Amiata with some of the most interesting of the Maremma and Siena. Such as those between Santa Fiora Piancastagnaio and the Ring Mountain and Mount Civitella Castell'Azzara crossing along the route and nature reserves Pigelleto Monte Penna.
Along the route marked by the Province of Grosseto you can get in Pitigliano, Saturnia, Scansano and the Argentario, the paths of the Province of Siena can reach Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano, Chiusi and Siena. The Florence-Siena-Rome route, opened in 1996, connecting 25 stages in the capital of Tuscany, the capital, and cross the forests and pastures of Mount Amiata lip.
